ECO certifications for us as the first Austrian hotel group!

We are delighted to have received two awards for sustainability! Thanks to our consistent commitment to environmental and sustainable tourism development, we were the first Austrian hotel group to receive this award in 2

During a formal ceremony held by the BMK (Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology) on 16 January 2023, Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler personally awarded us the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel.

In the run-up to this, we had to meet strict criteria and successfully pass numerous inspections at our Austrian facilities. Our founder and managing director Harald ‘Harry’ Ultsch accepted the certificates on behalf of the entire harry’s home family. As he aptly put it: “The careful use of the necessary resources is a challenge that we are committed to meeting. As a fifth-generation family business, we think long-term and have set ourselves the goal of working with our employees to scrutinise and optimise every offer and every service with a view to conserving resources. It is not one big step that will lead us to our goal, but many small improvements in our daily work.”

The Austrian Ecolabel stands for a clear ecological orientation, complemented by the EU Ecolabel at European level.

Our sustainability concept
The two ECO certifications are a special recognition of our many years of ecological and social responsibility. Key criteria include the use of regional and environmentally friendly products, the reduction of our CO₂ emissions and supporting our guests in planning sustainable holidays.

Regional & homemade
Wherever possible, we rely on regional suppliers and partners. Whether it’s homemade apple pie, homemade spreads or honey from our own bee sponsorship – short transport routes and fresh products are a matter of course for us.

Conscious use of food
Food does not belong in the bin. That’s why we have been working with the ‘Too Good To Go’ app for over a year to save surplus products from the bin.

Green travel
We support our guests in travelling in a climate-friendly way: Smatrics charging stations allow electric cars to be charged directly at our hotel, and thanks to good public transport connections, train and bus passengers can travel comfortably and sustainably.
