On January 16, 2023, we were personally awarded the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler at a ceremony held by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
We had to meet strict criteria in advance and successfully pass numerous inspections at our Austrian hotels. Our founder and Managing Director Harald “Harry” Ultsch accepted the certificates on behalf of the entire harry’s home family. As he aptly put it: “The careful use of the necessary resources is a challenge that we face with conviction. As a fifth-generation family business, we think long-term and have set ourselves the goal of working with our employees to question and optimize every offer and every service with a view to conserving resources. It is not one big step that will lead us to our goal, but many small improvements in our daily work.”
The Austrian Ecolabel stands for a clear ecological orientation, supplemented by the EU Ecolabel at European level.
Our sustainability concept
The two ECO certifications are a special recognition of our many years of ecological and social responsibility. The main criteria here are the use of regional and environmentally friendly products, the reduction of our CO₂ emissions and the support of our guests in planning a sustainable vacation.
Regional & homemade
Wherever possible, we rely on regional suppliers and partners. Whether home-baked apple pie, homemade spreads or honey from our own bee sponsorship – short transportation routes and fresh products are a matter of course for us.
Conscious handling of food
Food does not belong in the bin. That’s why we have been working with the “Too Good To Go” app for over a year to save surplus products from the garbage can.
Green travel
We support our guests in traveling in a climate-friendly way: Smatrics charging stations allow e-cars to be charged directly at our hotel, and thanks to the good public transport connections, train and bus guests can travel comfortably and sustainably.
