16 venues and 199 performances: From 42 opera performances to 55 theatre performances and 81 concerts over 43 days at 16 venues, the Salzburg Festival is one of the largest cultural events in Austria.
With its four highlight backdrops, the great festival theatre the house for Mozart, the Felsenreitschule and the cathedral square, the Salzburg Festival offers spectacular productions that combine Salzburg’s historic architecture with high-calibre artistic performances. The great festival theatre in particular stands out with its enormous stage width of an impressive 100 metres, which not only underlines its size and acoustic excellence, but also enables large-scale productions with extensive stage sets and a large number of performers.
