harry’s sustainability concept
Because green is not only the colour of our logo,
protecting our environment and climate is close to our hearts. We are awarded – not only for what we do, but also for our commitment to protecting the environment and the climate. The Ministry of the Environment has awarded us the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel. We use this award as a visible sign of our commitment to the environment, to sustainable tourism development, but also to our guests and employees. Together we assume ecological and social responsibility. We have committed ourselves to comply with many strict criteria and to be inspected by independent bodies to do so.

Our awards for sustainability
Sustainability has always been of great importance to harry’s home. We are therefore more than pleased that we have now been awarded with the Austrian and European Ecolabel by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology.
What does the Austrian Ecolabel stand for?
Awarded by BM Leonore Gewessler
On January 16, 2023, the Federal Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology Leonore Gewessler awarded us the certificates for the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel in a festive ceremony. All information about the award can be found in the press release.

press releaseOur responsibility.
“The careful use of the necessary resources is a challenge that we face with conviction. As a family business in its fifth generation, we think in the long term and have set ourselves the goal of questioning and optimising every offer and every service together with our employees in terms of resource conservation. Not one big step will lead us to our goal, but many small improvements in our daily work.” – Harald “Harry” Ultsch

We all are family.
The word “family” is capitalised at harry’s home and social sustainability is lived: satisfaction, individuality and a family environment are our top priorities, true to the motto We all are Family. Our employees are trained in the sustainable and responsible use of our resources when they join the harry’s home family and continuously during their time with the company.
Regional and homemade.
Homemade apple pie with apples from the neighbor’s farm and baked according to grandma’s recipe gets everyone’s heart pumping. And that’s exactly what we love: homemade and regional. Wherever possible, we choose regional suppliers and local partners, because short transport routes are particularly important to us. In addition to grandma’s apple pie (or other homemade delicacies) and a variety of homemade spreads, you will also find all sorts of organic and fair trade products on our breakfast buffet.
Bee kind – we are bee sponsors!
We love bees. That is why we have also taken on a sponsorship for bees. And they deliver the honey straight to the breakfast table. We are not only committed to animal welfare, but also to nature conservation.

The conscious use of food.
We have declared war on food waste!
To this end, we only use portion packs and disposable products where it is absolutely necessary for hygienic reasons. However, we are particularly proud of our cooperation with Too Good To Go – for more than a year we have been saving food from the residual waste together.
Waste separation.
We consciously reduce the amount of residual waste and attach great importance to waste separation: glass, metal, paper, plastic and biogenic waste are disposed of in the bins provided. Several waste rooms are available in the hotel for our guests to dispose of their waste properly.
Environmentally friendly printing stock.
As an eco-labelled company, we use office paper with an ISO Type I eco-label and – where possible – recycled paper. We print double-sided and avoid unnecessary printouts. Internally and externally, we communicate digitally wherever possible. For our print materials, we switch to materials which have at least one sustainability label.

Green arrival.
You are welcome to travel by car, but you don’t have to. Because we have good public transport connections, you have the opportunity to arrive in a climate-friendly way. The nearest public transport stop is just around the corner.
So, take the train or hop on your bike and hurry to harry’s home! And yes, you read that right. Thanks to the location directly on the Danube cycle path, you can also arrive quite comfortably by bike. We’ve even set up a “bike point” for you so that you can continue your journey without any worries. There you will find practical tools, a compressor and cleaning facilities. You can park your bike in the covered garage. And because we are so pleased that you are supporting us on our path to sustainability with your climate-friendly journey, you will receive a welcome drink on arrival.
E-Mobility.
In our harry’s homes in Telfs, Dornbirn, Linz-Urfahr, Hart bei Graz, Zurich-Wallisellen, Munich Moosach, Steyr and Bischofshofen, you have the option of charging your e-car at one of min. two Smartrics electric charging stations. The stations are not only available for our guests, but also for external persons and are displayed in the app.
At harry’s home Vienna Millennium Tower, a total of 11 charging stations are available in the Millennium City parking garage.
